ONC Observatory & Networks

The principal purpose of the ONC Observatory is to support leading edge oceanographic research conducted by university‐based researchers, often in partnership with colleagues in other agencies in the public and private sectors.

Its networks, NEPTUNE Canada and VENUS, have been explicitly designed to be Internet based to provide maximum access to data in the public domain, and thereby promote a collaborative approach, which should accelerate knowledge advance in the ocean sciences at an unprecedented rate.

The four general research theme areas are:

Natural Hazards;
Ecosystem Health;
Marine Conservation; and
Energy
