Public Education
The flood of real-time multidisciplinary observations from the ONC Observatory offers an unprecedented opportunity for the public, including students, anywhere in the world, to engage meaningfully with the ocean on issues as diverse as climate change, earthquakes and tsunamis, whale movements and vocalizations, plankton behaviour and storm effects. Through its education and public engagement initiatives, Ocean Networks Canada seeks to become recognized nationally and internationally as a centre of excellence in ocean science education for the advancement of ocean literacy.
