Le Comité consultatif scientifique international prodigue des conseils stratégiques et de l’orientation à ONC. Ses membres se réunissent régulièrement pour faire des recommandations sur les priorités scientifiques dans le contexte des programmes de recherche nationaux et internationaux, des enjeux techniques et politiques, des incidences de la recherche d’ONC, des évolutions futures en matière de qualité scientifique, et des occasions d’innovation pour les observatoires.
Emilio Mayorga has served on the Ocean Networks Canada International Science Advisory Board Members since 2018 and is its current Chair. He is a research scientist at the University of Washington (UW) Applied Physics Laboratory and an affiliate at the UW eScience Institute. He is an environmental informatics expert with a background in oceanography and watershed science. His work focuses on systems, software and practices for the management and open dissemination of environmental data. This work emphasizes collaborative approaches and open tools that engage diverse partners, with a scope ranging from the Pacific NW to national and global applications. Emilio was a Data Management And Communications lead for the Northwest Association of Networked Ocean Observing Systems (NANOOS) for over 10 years, where he coordinated closely with the US Integrated Ocean Observing System (IOOS) and other initiatives. Previously he was engaged in river and watershed assessments and data-centered efforts ranging from the concerns of Snohomish County in Washington state to the global impacts of human activities on river and coastal nutrients, including for the Global Environmental Facility Transboundary Waters Assessment Programme. He serves on the Consortium of Universities for the Advancement of Hydrologic Science, Inc. (CUAHSI) Informatics Standing Committee. More recently he has also been involved in data science training in earth and environmental fields, and in promoting Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives in environmental and data sciences. Emilio earned a BS in Environmental Engineering Science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and MS and PhD degrees in Chemical Oceanography at the UW School of Oceanography.
