Project Engineer, Marine Operations
Originally from Colombia, Manuel is a Mechanical Engineer highly interested in sensors and instrumentation in general. After completing his Master's degree in the same field, he moved to Brazil, in order to pursue a Ph.D. at the University of São Paulo. During that time, he worked on the development of technology related to electromagnetic instrumentation for non-destructive testing applications. Subsequently, he transitioned to the field of underwater acoustics, first as a postdoctoral research fellow and later doing work for the oil and gas industry. His experience in this field includes the development of underwater autonomous recorders, underwater listening stations, portable hydrophone recorders and more recently, instrumentation and components for towed array systems used in baseline surveys of marine mammals.
