Verena Tunnicliffe—Changing Perspectives

"Who could ask for a better 12 years?? I am leaving VENUS with such a wealth of memories, experiences, new knowledge and cakes consumed.

It has been an incredible privilege to work with the talented group of people—both the Team and the Users—that took a sketch on a blackboard to a complex network of instrumentation, cabling, connectors, computers, programming and data products: VENUS. Innovation, trouble-shooting and crisis management, both on land and at sea, were tools well-honed by the truly amazing staff (we earned the cakes).

Leadership Transition at Ocean Networks Canada

The Board of Directors of Ocean Networks Canada has announced that Dr. Kate Moran will succeed founding president and CEO Dr. Martin Taylor as head of Ocean Networks Canada, effective July 1, 2012.

From Dr. Andrew Bjerring, Chair of Ocean Networks Canada’s Board of Directors:

“Throughout his five years of leadership at Ocean Networks Canada, Martin Taylor has overseen the growth of the Observatory and played a key role in expanding its reputation as a major international ocean research facility. He has been a vital force in securing funding to sustain and expand the Observatory, while promoting its innovative technology and the importance of oceans research to scientists, institutions, and governments around the world.”

New CFAO Joins Ocean Networks Canada

Ocean Networks Canada is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Duc Le to the position of Chief Finance and Administration Officer (CFAO) beginning July 1st, 2012.

Mr. Le brings a distinguished career in senior financial and administrative positions across Canada to strengthen the Ocean Networks Canada executive team. Dr. Andrew Bjerring, the Ocean Networks Canada Board chair, comments that “the creation of the CFAO position and Mr. Le’s appointment are important steps in enhancing ONC’s capacity to meet its governance and management mandate for one of Canada’s major science facilities. The Board looks forward to working with Mr. Le as he assumes his important strategic and operational leadership role”.
