Brazil-Canada Partnership Workshop

Building on the success of the first Brazil-Canada joint science and technology workshop held last year in Rio de Janeiro, Ocean Networks Canada’s Centre for Enterprise and Engagement (ONCCEE) is hosting a three-day networking event, from June 11 to 13, to explore and develop potential partnerships in advanced ocean science and technology programs.

Maps and flags of Canada and Brazil

Over 60 representatives from industry, research and government from Brazil and Canada are gathering in downtown Victoria to establish a roadmap for further joint R&D efforts and sharing of technologies and expertise.

CFI Supports Future Endeavour Research

Ocean Networks Canada is kicking off a year of exciting research and innovation at the Endeavour node of the NEPTUNE observatory with a show of support from the Canadian Government.

Today’s $1.62 million funding commitment through the Canada Foundation for Innovation’s 2012 Leading Edge Fund is intended for future study and continuous monitoring of the Endeavour Segment.

"This funding support will nearly triple Ocean Networks Canada's current instrumentation at this spectacular location in the deep ocean and will provide a new way...

Promoting Collaboration Between Canada and the UK

Ocean Networks Canada President Martin Taylor will be speaking to ocean science researchers and students at UK’s leading oceanographic research centre—the National Oceanography Centre (NOC) at the University of Southampton, on April 4, 2012.

In 2011, ONC and NOC signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote research cooperation in areas of shared focus including: technology and applications of underwater vehicles, deep sea benthic biology, ocean biogeochemistry, sensor development and deep sea ecology.

Dr. Taylor will be providing an update on ONC’s programs and future plans, as well as discussing opportunities for future collaboration.

Our thanks to deep sea ecologist, Dr. Henry Ruhl...

Oceanology International London 2012

Scott McLean, Tom Dakin and Jeff Bosma manned the Ocean Networks Canada booth at Oceanology International 2012, the largest ocean technologies exhibition in the world. This 3-day event happens every 2 years in London, UK. This year the Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, the BC Government and Ocean Networks Canada hosted a Canada pavilion in addition to the historically run Atlantic Canada pavilion. Both pavilions housed eight or more Canadian oceanographic companies and several other Canadian companies were located elsewhere at the Conference, so Canada's ocean industry was very prominent.
