Science and Fishing
Traditional Ts'msyen fishing practices demonstrate in-depth knowledge of water salinity changes from the open ocean, through estuaries, and into rivers

How has water density influenced traditional Ts'msyen fishing practices?

Observation of your environment is key to understanding how to live and survive in the natural world. Key observations from time immemorial have helped the Ts’msyen* people thrive for thousands of years while living off the land and fishing. Explore observations and scientific principles of buoyancy and density in this interactive module. *The spelling of the Nation can be either Ts’msyen or Tsmishian.

This module has been developed for BC Science Grade 9.
