Junction Boxes supply power and communications to deployed instruments. Junction boxes have a number of serial and ethernet ports, including 400V ethernet ports that enable connections to other junction boxes and high-voltage instruments. Junction boxes can convert high voltages to lower voltages (15V, 24V or 48V) required by many instruments.
OceanWorks International SIIMs and Junction Boxes supply power and communications to instruments on the VENUS and NEPTUNE networks, respectively. Junction boxes also include OIM, SCU and Mini Junction Boxes built by Ocean Networks Canada. OIM (Ocean Networks Canada Interface Module) are developed in-house and provide power and communications to several projects. SCU (Signal Combiner Units) are developed in-house and provide power and communications to some SMART Oceans community observatories. Mini Junction Boxes are also developed at Ocean Networks Canada and are used for SMART Oceans Community Observatories and Regional Circulation moorings at Endeavour
