Precise Time Protocol Device
Precision time protocol (PTP) equipment is used to implement precision timing for particular experiments.
The level of precision using a PTP is important for hydrophone arrays where lags between events detected need to be accurately known in order to assess the direction of the signal origin. It is also suitable for determining the location of seismic events for regional-scale seismic arrays.
