Maia Hoeberechts and Dave Riddell visited the Bamfield Marine Sciences Centre from February 26–March 1. The Marine Sciences Centre provides valuable assistance with the maintenance of the instrument frame at Folger Pinnacle and this visit was an opportunity to say 'thank you' as well as meet with the Director and Department Heads to discuss opportunities for greater collaboration between our two institutions.
Maia and Dave also attended the Pacific Ecology and Evolution Conference, a graduate student conference held at the Bamfield Marine Sciences Centre every year. As well as presenting an overview of ONC and our cabled observatory infrastructure to the attendees, Maia and Dave also facilitated a data workshop, introducing students to the Oceans 2.0 data portal and associated tools. If you are a student or an instructor and are interested in using ONC observatory data in your project or thesis, or your classroom, please contact Dave.
Many thanks to Bamfield Marine Sciences Centre staff, the conference organizers and attendees, and the community members of Bamfield, Anacla, and Port Desire for making our visit so enjoyable. We hope to see you again soon!
