At Ocean Networks Canada 2016 has simply been the year of wow! We conducted our most complex Wiring the Abyss expeditions ever in the northeast Pacific, expanded the Arctic observatory, and installed a unique network of community observatories along the British Columbia coast.
And while we continue to deliver scientific data, we are also building data products for safer marine shipping, monitoring the ocean’s health, and keeping the public safe. We’re also strengthening our connections with other world nations who regard the ocean as a vital part of the global climate system.
In striving to deliver leading-edge science and innovative technology, we are grateful for the support from the University of Victoria, the Canada Foundation for Innovation, Western Economic Diversification Canada, the Government of Canada, the Government of British Columbia, Canada’s Advanced Research & Innovation Network, Polar Knowledge Canada, and the Centres of Excellence for Commercialization and Research program.
Thanks to those who work with us to deliver science and data products, and a special thanks to our dedicated staff who are the best in the world at what they do. Stay tuned in 2017 as we celebrate the ocean during Canada’s 150th anniversary. We would like to share our favourite video and photos from 2016 with you. I wish you and yours all the best for a prosperous and peaceful 2017.
