Congratulations to our industry network partner AML Oceanographic for snagging the prestigious “Innovation Excellence” award at the 13th annual VIATeC Technology Awards gala, held in Victoria on 20 June.
The Sidney BC engineering company won the award for its revolutionary new product UV•Xchange, the industry’s first commercially available UV-based anti-fouling system. In October 2013, AML engineers worked with Tom Dakin at ONC’s Innovation Centre to conduct a long term technology demonstration in-situ at NEPTUNE’s Folger Pinnacle site. Continuous video monitoring in a controlled situation demonstrated that UV•Xchange prevents fouling by bathing the desired surfaces in ultraviolet light.
