Hi everyone, my name is Lincoln Hood and I am a co-op student working for Ocean Networks Canada as a Post-Secondary Resource Developer. When I interviewed for this position I could barely contain my excitement! This job had everything I had been wanting and things I hadn’t even realized that I wanted! It has an amazing team who shares my passion and enthusiasm for the ocean, that same team who believes that it isn’t too late for us humans to change, the opportunity to work with VENUS and NEPTUNE data, blog, develop educational resources, and even help with an Ocean TV show! What more could a co-op student possibly want?
As a student from a small rural Ontario town with an interest in the oceans I took a leap of faith and decided to go to the University of Victoria to be close to the ocean. I haven’t looked back and I am now heading into my fourth year as a combined Biology and Earth and Ocean Science student.
This term I will be helping to connect students at universities across Canada through the National Ocean Student Network and hopefully creating more Ocean Student Societies at other institutes. I believe staying connected and sharing our thoughts and ideas is very important because we each have our own experiences and together can come up with some big ideas! I am thrilled to be a part of the Ocean Networks Canada team and excited to connect with so many other ocean enthusiasts!
