Lights, camera, action!
On July 9, 2013 the Ocean Alive production crew was on location at Mount Doug beach in Victoria, BC filming more interviews for the first episode of Ocean Alive. We filmed Scott McLean, the Director of Ocean Networks Canada Innovation Centre, Dr. Richard Dewey, Associate Director of Science for Ocean Networks Canada, Dr. Alex Rabinovich, a visiting scientist from Russia and Lara Puetz, a graduate student studying tubeworms at the Endeavour segment of the Juan de Fuca ridge.
The sun was shining down on us, the ocean provided a beautiful backdrop for the interviews and we had a lot of interesting questions answered! Some of the questions we asked our experts:
- Is it true that hydrothermal vents may have been the beginning of life?
- How do hydrothermal vents form?
- What are the signs of an impending tsunami at a coastline?
- How are whales affected by sound?
