Ocean Networks Canada (ONC) is proud to be a partner for the 2025 NorthEast Pacific Deep-Sea Exploration Project (NEPDEP) expedition, sailing from July 7 to 18 onboard the Canadian Coast Guard Ship (CCGS) John P. Tully. This expedition marks the eighth year of partnership between ONC and NEPDEP.
This expedition will explore and study deep-sea biodiversity hotspots offshore Vancouver Island and Haida Gwaii in the Northeast Pacific Ocean. The data collected, including video recordings from the remotely operated vehicle (ROV) Yelloweye, will be archived and accessible via ONC’s Oceans 3.0 data management portal. This information will inform decisions on the management and conservation of these little-understood deep-sea ecosystems.
ONC will be leading Ship2Shore events during the expedition to connect the experts at-sea with audiences on shore, allowing live question and answer sessions and insights into science at-sea.
Endorsed by the United Nations Ocean Decade and Challenger 150, NEPDEP will contribute significantly to our global understanding of the deep sea.
