#ONCabyss Spring 2026 Expedition
Watch the ocean expedition livestream March 10-19, 2026

Ocean Networks Canada is kicking off the 2026 #ONCabyss season with a 10-day expedition aboard Canpac Marine Services’ motor vessel (M/V) Canpac Valour, from March 10–19.

During this expedition, ONC and Canpac Marine Services will service the Victoria Experimental Network Under the Sea (VENUS) observatory in the Salish Sea and the North East Pacific Time-series Undersea Networked Experiments (NEPTUNE) observatory off the west coast of Vancouver Island.

Canpac Marine Services’ remotely operated vehicle (ROV) Mantis will serve as the hands and eyes of the operation, assisting with the recovery and deployment of scientific instruments and supporting science activities at sea—from the colourful ecosystems of Barkley Canyon to the anoxic waters of Saanich Inlet and more.

Watch the operation live through ROV Mantis’ cameras from anywhere in the world.
