Bring ocean science into classrooms with ONC’s professional development series, **Blue Blue and You**.

Each school year, our team of British Columbia certified teachers develop new content, often in collaboration with partner organizations, school districts, or Indigenous knowledge holders. The content is best suited to middle and high school educators, but all levels of educators are welcome to participate.

At this half-way mark in the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development (2021-2030), we recognize ocean science is for everyone.


Bring real ocean data into your middle or high school classroom using curated data sets from Ocean Network Canada’s underwater observatories! Video and scalar data are featured in our curriculum-aligned worksheet activities.

Explore a place-based, early high school teaching resource from Ocean Networks Canada’s Ocean Sense program. This resource is centered around Earth’s interconnected spheres and highlights beach ecosystems and plankton. 

Nuc̓ama:t ‘i c̓ic̓uwatl ‘i iyatl (pronounced NUTS-a-maat ee TseeTsaWatl ee EE-yah-tl) is a Hul̓q̓umín̓um̓ term that means “working together as one with positive relationships”.

These resources were developed in partnership with Indigenous Learning, Nanaimo Ladysmith Public Schools.



Learn all about orcas with activities for late elementary and middle school classrooms!
