#ONCabyss Expedition - Spring 2023
March 12-19, 2023 onboard the CCGS John P. Tully

The first ONC-led expedition for 2023 takes place onboard the Canadian Coast Guard Vessel John P. Tully from 12—19 March. Our team from ONC and ITB Subsea will maintain and install infrastructure and instrumentation at ONC’s VENUS observatory located off the east coast of Vancouver Island. ITB Subsea’s remotely operated vehicle (ROV) Oceanic Explorer will be diving to depths of up to 300 metres, recovering and deploying equipment that enables continuous, open-data to keep flowing from VENUS.

Join us on the live web stream as we visit the shallow VENUS locations in the Strait of Georgia and Saanich Inlet.

Visit our social media platforms for updates and expedition highlights, and tag us #ONCabyss!

We gratefully acknowledge the support from our funders that enable the operation and maintenance of our physical and digital infrastructure; Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI), University of Victoria, Canada's Advanced Research and Innovation Network (CANARIE), Government of Canada, and Government of British Columbia.
