#ONCabyss Expedition - Spring 2024
March 10-17, 2024 on the CCGS John P. Tully

ONC invites you to join the first #ONCabyss expedition of 2024, onboard the Canadian Coast Guard Vessel John P. Tully from March 10 to 17.

During this 7-day cruise, ONC is partnering with Tidewater Canada to maintain the Victoria Experimental Network Under the Sea (VENUS) observatory in the Salish Sea and North East Pacific Time-series Undersea Networked Experiments (NEPTUNE) observatory, off the west coast of Vancouver Island.

This spring #ONCabyss expedition also marks the completion of the Delta Dynamics Lab (DDL) project led by Natural Resources Canada. The one tonne DDL platform was first deployed on February 29 2008 at the mouth of the Fraser River to study sediment behaviour and transport processes. It has undergone 21 “tours of duty” providing vital data on underwater landslides in the Strait of Georgia.
