# **Educators**
If you are a teacher, graduate student or supervisor and wish to access our systems for educational purposes, our learning section can assist you with a range of projects at the honours, undergraduate, and graduate level, that under your supervision and with the support of our staff scientists, can be completed with minimal to no cost.



ONC’s interactive presentations are aligned with the BC public school curriculum and are designed and delivered by our team of BC certified teachers. We look forward to helping middle and high school students dive into ocean science, Indigenous knowledge and data that helps us know the ocean.

ONC provides resources for educators to integrate ocean science into the classroom. Our resources are suited for all grade levels and include themed activities that are aligned with ONC’s key research areas. Topics include Canadian Arctic science, hydrothermal vents, ocean exploration, ocean literacy and sound in the ocean.

## **Undergraduate & Graduate Students**


Our post-secondary education coordinators develop and teach classroom and field-based courses. We provide learning materials, community training programs, and special topic workshops, each designed to connect with ONC’s abundance of ocean data and foster understanding of coastal and deep-sea marine science.

This course focuses on ocean topics involving human impacts on the ocean that are of particular relevance to society. 

[**Instrument Technology Course**](https://www.oceannetworks.ca/learning/post-secondary-education/understanding-the-oceans-course/)<br />
This course introduces students to marine sensor technology, with an emphasis on underwater cabled observatories and shore-based coastal weather stations.

ONC can host visiting scientists who are working on observatory-related research. We also support students and early career scientists through travel support so they can present results and attend major meetings. Our residency programs provide opportunities to explore and experiment, conduct research, connect with others and foster interdisciplinary initiatives.
